OneClay Literacy

Welcome to the Literacy Department!

The Clay County District Schools’ Literacy Department is committed to supporting pre-K-12 literacy. The OneClay Literacy website provides families and community stakeholders a collection of resources and information designed to support students’ literacy growth in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. According to the International Literacy Association, the ability to READ, WRITE, and COMMUNICATE connects people and empowers them to achieve things they never thought possible. The literacy department works closely with all stakeholders to prepare students for college and career literacy readiness. Our goal is to develop and empower 21st century lifelong readers and learners.

In 2018, Florida became the first state to offer an education savings account program for students enrolled in public schools. The Reading Scholarship, administered by Step Up For Students, was created to help public school students in third through fifth grade who struggle with reading. The program offers parents access to education savings accounts, worth $500 each, to pay for tuition and fees related to part-time tutoring, summer and after-school literacy programs, instructional materials and curriculum related to reading or literacy.
